Dr. Sketchy with Mona Kee Kee

The event which I missed most, Dr Sketchy at Artistry. This session featuring Mona Kee Kee. I didn’t hit off well, totally out of sync. I knew it the moment I penned the 2 minute poses. Nevertheless, I went on with the whole session.

2-min poses. Perhaps it was the pen I used or I was out of sync.

5-min poses. I applied a tint of pelikan blue ink for a wash.

10-min pose. The contest round which I didn't participate. Here was where I realised my struggle. Mona Kee Kee cross-dressed, I wanted to sketch him as a lady but a female body is different from a male. My imagination failed. It must be the tussle between what I saw as a reference and perception.

10-min pose. Here is where my mistake clearly showed. The hip, pelvis bone structure of a female didn't illustrated proportionately. Here he was staring into blankness, so I created a background of horizon of colours making the drips to illustrate the mood.

10-min pose. Another 'off' piece.

Disaster struck at this 20-min pose! Poor Mona Kee Kee lost his balance and fell backwards after 3 minutes posing. Because I sat at a corner of 3rd row, I couldn't get up and help him. Luckily he was unhurt and continued with a safer pose (the next sketch). This outfit is gorgeous! I managed to sketch his head and shoulder before the incident happened. I sketched this based on memory, adding some birds admiring the subject.

20-min pose restarted after the incident. The cape was spread with the help of some high stools and weights. So I changed the setting with him sitting on a rock, spreading his wings...
